Within a period of days employees at Ring Mekanikk AS can rejoice at a new contract on train-seats. Its now final that trains trafficing Gjøvik-banen (the distance between Gjøvik and Oslo) gets seats from Ring Mekanikk AS.

Just a few days ago the contract was signed on the delivery to Røros-banen (the distance between Hamar and Trondheim). The seats have been developed over the last two years and corresponding seats are pr date delivered to Nordlands-banen (the distance between Trondheim and Bodø). The period of delivery is from December 2005 to April 2006, and represents a value close to 7 mill NOK. These two contracts put together represents orders worth nearly 18 mill NOK.

The seats will be produced in Moelv, Norway and sent to DSB (Danish Railways) in Århus, Denmark. Earlier this year DSB signed a contract with NSB (Norwegian Railways) on an upgrade of all nine train-sets trafficing Gjøvik-banen from the 15th of June 2006.

Time of delivery is very short and will give Ring Mekanikk AS big challenges both with producing the seats and the logistics. These challenges will de met with good planning and lots of experience. Parts will be coming in from Denmark, England, China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Latvia, to be assembled in Moelv, Norway.

The fact that the train-sets now will be used by DSB, means a new possible niche opening for Ring Mekanikk AS which leads to even more confidence in the future, and even better prospects for the employees.

The new seats will be covered in woolen fabric from Gudbrandsdalens Uldvarefabrik. The fabric has grafiti like pattern with enjoy your journey as one of the phrases.
